Diana Joan Grant (née Jarvie)

Born on March 29, 1935. Passed away May 30, 2020.

Diana passed away peacefully at Karingal, Devonport. She was the only child of William and Joan Jarvie (dec) of Christchurch, New Zealand. She was the loved wife of David (dec), and loving mother and mother-in-law of Sara and Charles Ecroyd (England), Tim and Christine, Richard and Kathy, Rachel and Grant Allen and Felicity and James Baxter (WA). Diana was the proud grandmother of Charlotte and Edward Ecroyd, Stuart (dec) and Alex Grant, Andrew and Megan Grant, Sam and Nicholas Allen, and Georgia, Sophia and Stephanie Baxter.

Diana was born in Christchurch where she attended St Margaret’s College, and trained as a nurse. It was here she met David and they married in 1956. The couple travelled to England for David’s employment with Shell. A move to Melbourne followed in 1961, and in 1965 the family settled in Tasmania.

Diana was an active, community-minded person who served on Devonport Council for thirteen years, returned to Community Nursing in Devonport for a number of years, and was a long-term member of the CWA and the Spinners’ Guild.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the caring staff of the Karingal Community, and are grateful for the support of Parkinson’s Tasmania. Thanks are also extended to Drs Clapton and Parry and the staff at East Devonport Medical Centre.

You meant so much to each of us in so many ways,
and will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Rest in peace, our beautiful mum.

A private family funeral will be held on Friday 5 June 2020.

Details of a Memorial Service will be advised when circumstances allow.
